Loan Reject··Updated

Job is only 6 months old so the loan was denied

The offer letter is new. The bank wants a longer salary trail. Tenure is a policy switch, not a comment on your skills.

The SMS landed first.

"Unable to process. Insufficient employment stability."

You were not looking for a speech. You wanted someone to point at one line on the report — or at the one paper the desk actually wants — and say what it means in ordinary English.

What that message is actually saying

They want to see that the salary credit is a habit, not a one-month experiment. Six months may be enough at one NBFC and too short at a home-loan desk. Job hoppers with strong old CIBIL still fail this gate because the gate is not the score. It is months-in-job and sometimes months-in-industry.

Lenders reuse short phrases because they are cheap to send. Policy norms, under review, minus applicable charges, visit branch: each one hides a list. Your job is to pull that list out of the PDF or the document packet, not to decode the officer's mood in the corridor.

If you are in a genuine new job after a layoff, say that once, with dates, and then wait. Sympathy is not an input field. A credit-card with a small limit and on-time bills can still help a later unsecured loan, but it will not erase a tenure rule this month.

The one report line to read first

Open the consumer report you downloaded from the official bureau path. Ignore the decorative score ring for a minute. Find this kind of line:

No bureau line prints ‘joined in October’. The reject lives in the application form: date of joining vs today’s date.

You will not find a magic tenure field on CIBIL. You will find your own joining date on the form you submitted. If you typed a polished date and the PF or offer letter says otherwise, that mismatch becomes KYC trouble on top of tenure. Keep the dates boring and true.

Count completed salary credits, not the week you accepted the offer. If only four credits sit in the account, many personal-loan grids will wait. A previous job of five years still helps some shops if you can show the old Form 16 and the new offer together. Others ignore the old job completely.

Screenshot the error. Skip the 7-day score ads

Offer letter, first and last salary credit, and the reject SMS. If you had a previous employer, keep that relieving letter ready but do not invent overlapping dates.

Avoid ‘we will show 12 months salary’ document shops. Fake statements are a bigger crime than a delayed loan.

If a page promises a score of 800 in seven days, close it. If a stranger wants remote access to 'clean CIBIL', close that too. The official bureau site and the lender that holds the account are the two doors that count. Everything else is noise with a PAN field.

Keep the screenshots in a folder named with the date. When you visit a branch, you are not performing. You are showing two or three pictures and asking which of those pictures they used.

What to do this week

  1. Count actual salary credits in the bank used for the application.
  2. Read the product page for minimum employment months before you apply again.
  3. If you changed jobs, some lenders want 6–12 months in the current one even if the old one was long.
  4. Use a smaller ticket or a secured product if you cannot wait.
  5. Do not open five applications on month five hoping one engine is sleepy.

Diagram for this problem

People start the clock from the interview. Lenders start from joining or from first credit. Internships usually do not count. Probation sometimes counts as employment, sometimes not. Another mix-up is using a friend’s company to show a longer job. That is fraud.

Leave these ideas aside

Do not backdate a joining date on the form. Do not submit a photoshopped slip for March when you joined in November.

A helper blog cannot sit in the dispute queue for you. It cannot call recovery. It cannot promise a sanction. It can tell you to read the line, keep the screenshot, and use the official form.

If the file is personal — a court remark, a guarantee, a joint loan after a breakup — take the PDF to the lender and, where the facts are heavy, to a qualified adviser. Do not crowd-source the next step in a comment section.

A calm way to talk at the branch

Carry the SMS, the PDF page, and one proof (payment, offer letter, KYC, valuation slip — whichever this problem needs). Ask three questions only: which line they used, which document is missing, and whether a cool-off applies before you apply again. Write the answers in your notes app. That is a better meeting than a twenty-minute speech about how decent your salary feels on WhatsApp.

If they repeat "policy norms" and nothing else, use their grievance mail with the application number. You may still get a short code. The bureau page will still be more honest than the corridor.

FAQ

Does a previous 10-year job help?

Sometimes, if the lender’s policy counts total experience. Many personal-loan engines only count current employer. Ask before you pay processing fees.

Can I use my old salary account?

They want current salary in the account you declared. Old account history is nice extra, not a substitute.

Are NBFCs looser on tenure?

Some are. Price, insurance add-ons, and foreclosure rules may be harsher. Read the KFS.

Will waiting two more months really change the decision?

If tenure was the only switch, yes, it can. If FOIR or bureau was also bad, waiting alone will not.

Short disclaimer

Loan Atka is not a bank and not a CIBIL office. Score formulas belong to the bureau. No article can guarantee approval, a deleted enquiry, or a higher number next week. The official report and the lender letter are final for your file. For a personal case, speak to the bank or NBFC that holds the account.

Loan Atka is a helper blog. The official bureau report is the one that counts. For your own file, talk to the bank or NBFC that holds the account.
